Robert Matthews is an award-winning journalist and commentator with over 25 years of international media experience. His career began at The Times, followed by 15 years as Science Correspondent with the Sunday Telegraph. He is currently Science Consultant for BBC Focus and has worked freelance for a wide range of publications, ranging from the Financial Times and The Economist to online media such as The First Post. Robert’s media training experience is similarly extensive, having worked with clients ranging from multinational drug companies and government departments to hi-tech start-ups and health charities. In addition to his journalistic experience, Robert is also able to draw on his experience on the other side of the media divide, having been interviewed live on, among others, UK Channel Four News, BBC Radio 4 Today and many foreign TV and radio networks. Robert has a Masters degree in physics from the University of Oxford, and is currently Visiting Reader in the Department of Mathematics at Aston University, Birmingham. His current research interests are in probability and statistical inference, and he has over 40 papers published in refereed journals, including Nature, The Lancet and publications of the Royal Statistical Society and the Royal Institution. Robert hosts Media Training and Presentation Training courses for The Media Coach.
